How Flooring Manufacturers are “Going Green”
Several flooring manufacturers are starting to offer products that are more environmentally friendly, use more natural materials, and support greater sustainability. At Quaglino’s Flooring we are proud to offer these products to our customers.
Green Label Plus Designation
If you are concerned about indoor air quality, ask for Green Label Plus designation carpet. These carpets meet or exceed California’s indoor quality standards for low-emitting products used in residential as well as commercial settings such as schools and office buildings.
Recycling and Sustainability
Carpet manufacturers now pay an assessment of $.35 per square yard of carpet sold as defined by California Assembly Bill #2398. The revenue collected helps to fund improvements in landfill diversion and recycling of post-consumer carpet. Carpet manufacturers are also working to support sustainability through solar power, using less water in the dying process, as well as using recycled product for carpet backing and padding.
Eco-Friendly Hardwood
Visit our showroom to view samples of eco-friendly hardwood floor samples. Manufacturers of hardwood floors in the 21st Century use third-party U.S. independent testing agencies to verify compliance with air quality control and other areas related to responsible forestry. Some common certifications are: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), FloorScore, Cradle to Cradle, GreenGuard, and NWFA Verified.
