Bamboo & Cork
Cork floors are constructed from the outer bark of the Evergreen Cork Oak. The bark on the same tree can be harvested every nine years without damaging the tree in any way. The average cork tree can live for 150 to 200 years. This makes cork a renewable and sustainable resource in the flooring industry. Cork floors also provide thermal insulation, sound reduction and elasticity. Plank or tile options are offered by Wicanders as well as a commerial line that can withstand high traffic areas. | |
Bamboo floors can be constructed from either a horizontal or vertical cut. Strand bamboo is manufactured by taking strands (small strips) of bamboo and fusing them together using heat, pressure and a non-toxic solution. This type of manufacturing process helps reduce waste as well as produce a floor where the coloration runs completely through the entire floor. Eastern Elegance Bamboo and Teragren Bamboo offer floating bamboo floors that can be installed without glue. Most bamboo floors have shades which vary between natural (yellow/blonde) or carbonized (coffee-colored) tones. Teragren Bamboo manufactures a strand bamboo which is a blend of natural and caramelized strands. The result is a brindle look bamboo floor. Teragren also has a wide plank, handscraped bamboo collection. Samples of these” Green Products” are on display in the showroom and can be checked-out upon request.

This product comes in a variety of shades from natural hues to bright, primary colors. The tiles and planks can be combined to make unique patterns.
